HANDCRAFTED WITH 100% LEATHER

The Leatherworker was born in Deptford, London circa 1750 doing anything and everything to do with heavy duty leather, including any work that was needed on the barges going up and down the river Thames. The Leatherworker continues to be a small, family business, which prides itself on quality products at reasonable prices, with good, old-fashioned values where we treat people as we ourselves would like to be treated.

We use only the best quality leather, either vegetable-tanned full grain hide, chrome-tanned hide, or carbon fibre cowhide, depending on how and where it is to be applied. We do not possess machinery, any machining is outsourced to a reliable supplier with whom we have worked over the past 40 years, and everything we do is cut, prepared and stitched by hand, using the twin needle saddler’s stitch.

WHO WE ARE

Leatherwork has been a tradition for the Baggott family since around the 1750’s, rumour has it at one point they even tanned their own hides in their back yard in London!

Marine Industry in Palma de Mallorca, Spain

We carry out heavy duty, protection work on sailing and motor yachts such as covering tender and jet ski chocks, wheels of any diameter, fender brackets, mooring line eyes and removable anti-chafe gear, backstays, bottlescrews, lifeline terminal ends, runner blocks, to name but a few of the items that we cover with leather.

Classic and Vintage Cars

Somebody once asked Sarah if she could make a bonnet strap for a Jaguar XK120. The answer was “yes” and we now supply various straps for a number of uses across a range of classic vehicles. We use drum-dyed leather for exterior work to avoid colour bleeding. If necessary we can also line the leather with a chrome-tanned suede finish leather so that it is an even softer finish against the paintwork.

Mobile Shop at Shows in the UK

You will see us at a number of events throughout the UK during the summer months and also at Christmas. Keep an eye on the Calendar of Events to see where we will be this year.

TESTIMONIALS
I have used Sarah for 6 years on the Hoek design sailing yacht “Schwanensee”, and I wouldn’t consider using anyone else. Her work is second to none and I always follow her suggestions. She is always on time and true to the quote. I can’t recommend her highly enough.
Rick Smith, Captain SY Schwanensee

I have been using the leather services and skills of Sarah Baggott the Leatherworker now for around 15 years and for around 5 years before that with her father. They have conducted works for me on sailboats up to 55 meters and never once let me down. Sarah offers exterior leatherworks with various options in stitching, colour and of course leather itself whether rugged or soft, cow or elk etc. Sarah is a pleasure to have on board, she is prompt, tidy, efficient and works in all conditions outdoors and I cannot recommend her services enough

James Gilmour, Master on Board, Motor Yacht Pick Up

We had a number of items onboard which were finished to the high standard expected by a superyacht, overall we are impressed by the service from The Leatherworker.

Julian Horsley, Chief Officer
Sarah,
I received the belt in the mail today. It fits beautifully! Thank you for your efforts on my behalf.
If I need anymore belts, I will certainly know where to look!
Sincerely,
Neil
